Wendy’s interest in art began at a very early age which over
the years increased the focus of her life. It was not until moving from Sussex
to California that she studied art formally, and it was here that her potential
was recognised by her professor who encouraged the discipline essential to
achieve recognition as an illustrator. The achievement of her potential was
shown through the publication of her work in magazines and newspapers, as well
through private commissions and production of children’s books.
During a period living in rural France Wendy began to
introduce “tongue in the cheek” humour into her work. Her interest and close
observation of people, animals (especially cats) and nature generally, allied
to a wild (and sometimes outrageous) imagination led her to introduce more
humour and character detail into much of her work.
Wendy’s art was exhibited in several French cities before she
and her husband settled in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia in 2000 where
her work was first included in the annual “Art Walk” exhibition in Winfield
which led to her exhibiting in Vancouver and other B.C. cities. Popular demand
led her to reduce many of her paintings into greeting cards and matted prints
which further established her as both an artist and illustrator.
Following the death of her husband she returned to the UK and
now lives in Wiltshire, and after a period of dormancy has re-established her
studio and with that a renewed enthusiasm to put her often outrageous
imagination into an illustrative form, which will hopefully, amuse, enlighten
and/or provoke positive reaction to those who come across her work.

Wendy possesses a spirit full of laughter and kindness and is definitely a woman who sees life on the funnier side. Her humorous artwork has brought a smile to many a face and she always has a story behind every painting, bringing every character she paints to life in her own imaginative way.
This lent itself naturally to writing and she embarked on a different kind of artistic expression. As she conjured up wonderful worlds of whimsy with her pen, creating scenes in her imagination that we are all familiar with. It is this ability to see an ordinary, everyday situation and turn it into an original creative work that has Wendy’s fans so enraptured. Things that we all see and know are given a new life with an artful stroke of her brush or pen and these little moments are captured forever with warmth.
